東日本大震災。大きな地鳴りと共に 目の前の世界が一変した。

　

これまでに感じたことがない恐怖に身をすくめながら 自分に何か出来ることはないかと必死で考えた。

そうだ、お寺には、たくさんのロウソクがある。停電がいつまで続くか分からない状況の中、ロウソクを積み込み、車を走らせた。燃料が先に尽きるようなら歩けばいい。ロウソクが先に尽きれば、また次に出来ることを考えればいい。きっと本堂にロウソクはなくなっても、お仏さまは そんな私を許してくれるだろうと信じて。

ライフラインが断たれ、あの凍えるような寒い夜が続く中で、ロウソクの明かりと温かさは、明日という未来を照らす希望の光であると心から思った。

　

部屋に飾られた美しい花々は、きっと 皆さまの日常に彩りを与えてくれると思います。

大切な家族と永遠の別れをなされた皆さまにとっては、供えられたお花のキャンドルは、今は亡き大切な人への心からの贈り物となり、それを受け取った大切な亡き家族は、いつかの地震のように、ライフラインが断たれたとき、今度は、私たちを助けてくれる明かりとなり、温かさとなるはずです。

　

そう、このお花のキャンドルは、私たちの生活にとけこみ、未来を灯す優しい光となってくれはず。そのような願いを込めて、自然界に咲く花々を忠実に再現し、花びら一枚一枚、すべて手作業で制作しました。

　

赤や白で彩られた美しいフラワーキャンドルの下には、廃棄されるロウソクを再利用し、幸福を意味するひし形を型どったブロックキャンドルが敷き詰めされています。お花のキャンドルと併せて使用することで、防災用品として １０時間以上もの間　皆さまに特別な時間を用意してくれます。

　

「随に（まにまに）」とは、「心の赴くまま、意思や事態の成り行きに任せる様」という意味です。

私が住職を勤める保壽寺（ほじゅじ）、そして 併設されたカフェラウンジである「CAFE TERA カフェ・テラ」のコンセプトを この美しい花々に託しました。

　

温かな光は、きっと人を幸せにしてくれる。そう 信じています。

Giving colours to daily lives, connecting lives

Tohoku Earthquake. Our lives change in front of our lives with rumblings from the ground.

With my body clenched in a great fear that I have never felt before,

I thought of ways to help with my own means.

Right, we have lots and lots of candles in the temple.

Without any clues as to when the blackout ends, but with a mountain of candles,

I drove my car.

If the gas runs out, I can walk.

If the candles run out,

I will think of another way.

Believing that the Budha will be forgiving.

Even if there are no lights in his temple.

In darkness, at night, cold as ice,

The warmth and light of candles will light the tomorrow, the future.

The genuine hope I had in my heart.

I hope these flowers give light to your lives.

For those who lost close ones,

The flower candles where they rest,

Will be gifts from the bottom of your heart.

The one who received the gifts,

When all hope is dim,

Like that time the earth trembled,

Will be our lights and warmth that guide our ways.

These flowers that ignite melt into our lives

And light them up with warmth.

With such wishes, we replicated the flowers that bloom in nature.

With each petal hand-crafted with care.

Under the beautiful flowers of red and white,

Using the reclaimed candles,

A tapestry of block candles in diamond shapes, a symbol of happiness.

By lighting up both candles,

They provide you with luxury time for over 10 hours.

“随に[Manimani]”

A state of mind in which we let ourselves go along with our will and environment as our hearts take the lead,

Hojuji temple, where I am the chief priest,

And the neighbouring “Café Tera”,

Our concepts lie with lie with these beautiful flowers.

With faith, the warm lights of candles will make people happy.
